Key Challenges
- Program – Due to our clients program constraints the works had to be completed in a total of 5 working weeks which lead to the use of up to 3 No. piling rigs and crews on site at any time.
- Material supply – the volume of daily supply of concrete and reinforcement to allow construction of up to 22no x 600 / 750mm piles installed per shift.

Scope
- Design, supply and construction of 362no Continuous Flight Auger foundation piles for the Alora Apartments. Pile sizes of 600 and 750mm diameter to depths of 15 to 22m.
- We carried out our works under a standard Design and Construction Subcontract.

Geotechnical conditions
- The geotechnical profile encountered was reasonably consistent, with variable fill
overlying an alluvial soft clay layer with thickness of 0.3m to 2.6m. This is underlain by alluvial silty sandy clay grading from Stiff to Very Stiff to depths of around 16 to 21 metres.  This was underlain by low strength sandstone over medium to high-strength sandstone bedrock. All piles were designed to socket into the medium to high-strength sandstone.

Key Plant
- BG28,  BG24H and Mait HR150 rigs in CFA mode, Transcrete concrete pumps, excavators and tipper trucks.
